Tanghalang Pilipino announces the first of its auditions for its 21st Theater Season of Power Plays. On May 8, 9 and 10, 2007, the search is on for the cast of PILIPINAS CIRCA 1907, the company’s season opener. Auditions for this Philippine zarzuela will be held at the Bulwagang Amado Hernandez, Upper Ground Floor, Tanghalang Pambansa, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM.

The Great Tribute to Weng Weng

Filipinos today may not realize it, but a 2′ 9″ action star is beginning to become an international sensation.

Weng Weng, who appeared as leading man in a handful of James Bond parody films in the 1970’s, caught the attention of thousands of international fans who have watched him in DVDs throwing a razor-blade hat to some goon’s neck.  In fact, the Guiness Record holder (the shortest actor in a leading role) has a French fansite.

There is nothing more Filipino than Imelda Marcos and her countless pairs of shoes (okay, maybe except for adobo and Payatas). And what better way to pay tribute is to create a photoshoot that would feature both Imelda’s grandiose hair and a shoe.

Since I can’t view Rina’s pic (again) on the show’s website, let’s just satisfy ourselves judging the remaining six photos.
