USTe.TV is UST Meets Facebook

Calling all Thomasians, mapa-elementary, high school, college, at grad school! Get in touch with your schoolmates and batchmates with the newest and coolest social networking for UST, by UST.

USTe.TV (short for “University of Santo Tomas Electronic Thomasian Village”) aims to bring together alumni of UST from around the world, targetting a membership base of at least 100,000 Thomasian before the University’s 400th Founding Anniversary celebrations on January 28, 2011. It is a virtual, interactive community for students and alumni of Asia’s first university.

USTe.TV functions much like the social networking sites you have loved. You can add friends, join groups (consisting of UST-based organizations and colleges), discuss in forums, add applications, post your blog entries, send event invitations, create a music player, add your photos and videos, and so much more in store!

Registering is easy. Simply go to http://www.uste.tv and follow the instructions on how to be part of the growing virtual Thomasian community!

Royal Tigresses Unite!

If you studied in University of Santo Tomas during the late 90’s and early 2000’s you may have heard about The Royal Tigress, an underground association of gay students. These amigas would gather in campus and talk about any topic and play mini-beauty pageants in Colayco Park at nighttime. One thing lead to another until they decided to organize a full-scale beauty pageant featuring gay Thomasian students.

Almost every college was represented in the first (and last) search for the Royal Tigress, from Arts and Letters to Education, from CFAD to Graduate School. Eighteen beautiful ladies of the night were presented in a secluded location near UST and were watched by about 200 people. Marco, a senior AB Economics student, was crowned as the Royal Tigress.

The pageant was a personal success for all of us, but as the years passed and members began to graduate the legacy of the Royal Tigress seem to have faded, until now.

The fabulous stylist and fellow Thomasian Lotho Lotho revives the Royal Tigress as she displays her beauty and strength into the Internet age! The Royal Tigress online group welcomes all gay Thomasian students and alumni. The group aims to provide camaraderie and unity among the gay Thomasians as they share common interests. To join, simply register at USTe.tv and add “The Royal Tigress” in the Groups section. If you have Thomasian gay friends, tell them that their company is very much welcome in our group.

At kahit hindi niya ito maiintindihan, binabaTITI ko na rin ang aking kachikang Venezuelanang si Luis dahil sa wakas nagkaroon na uli siya ng love life.  Mantakin niyo, 27 ang lola niyo’t nakasungkit ng Daisy…Daisy Ocho (habang ako naman majilig sa majojonta dahil “ang lalake’y parang alak, habang tumatanda lalong sumasarap”).  Buong pagmamalaki niya talagang pinakilala sa akin ang bagong juwa-er.  (Hanapin niyo ang juwa sa photo, madali lang ma-knows.)

Speaking of juwa-ers, as usual flopchina na naman ang lovelife ni Empress.  Wiz na kasi nag-reply ang Irish community worker na talagang dinuguan ko ng ilong dahil sa Ingglisan sa chat.  Kebs…Holy Week naman, ilayo ang sarili muna sa karne.

Nominate Manila for Monopoly World Edition

The Monopoly board game comes up with its first “World Edition” and Hasbro (the creator of the popular game) wants us to choose the cities to be included in the board.

The company has pre-selected 68 cities, excluding Manila. However, savvy Pinoy Internet users are allowed to nominate Manila as a “Wildcard City”.

How? Just register at the voting site and nominate “Manila, Philippines”. You need to make sure that you are not nominating other similarly-named cities like “Manila, Alabama”. Don’t forget to nominate Manila every day for better chances!

I am just a simple girl with a simple ambition. Hi! My name is Empress Maruja, representing Novaliches!

Writing has been my passion since high school, but it was only back in college when I honed and practiced creative writing into its fullest potential from essays, one-act plays, screenplays, and even children’s stories.

My inspiration comes from everything and anything about my life as well as my surroundings. I used to write with a muse in mind, but then again I realized that the only person that I should seek inspiration from is myself.

My entry to Wika 2007 is entitled “Ang Pagladlad ng Kapa,” where I compared the pride of one’s native language to an unfurling of one’s cape during a beauty pageant as well as the unfurling of one’s true identity, that of my own. As I’ve said in my entry, I believe that language is something that you could hold on to because a simple smile, wink, or touching of each other’s bodies is not enough.

A vote for me is a vote of support for the Filipino gay community. Once again this is Empress Maruja, please vote for me! 😉
