Music Break: “Cosi” by Vittorio Grigolo

30 05 2007

I’m still in a “beauty pageant mode” right now. In the meantime, let me share to you this wonderful music sung by Vittorio Grigolo.

“Cosi,” the Italian popopera version of Keane’s “Bedshaped,” was used in the evening gown competition of Miss Universe 2006. I think this is the best music they have ever used for this segment. I mean, hello, what’s up with this year’s “Give It All to Me” by Sean Paul?

It still gives me the shivers everytime I listen to this.

Get ready with your high heels, long leggeds, and flowing dresses after the jump.

“Mama, tama ang hula ni Maruja!!!” — Nora Aunor

“Japan, Japan, sagot sa kahirapan.” — Allan K.

As correctly–and fearfully–forecast by Maruja, an Asian wins this year’s Miss Universe.

Miss Japan Riyo Mori, a 20-year-old dancer who dreams of creating her own dance studio someday, was just crowned as the new Miss Universe of 2007.

Empress Maruja must have concocted some major juju psychic powers. Ching!

Bunny Man Hunt #4 Winner

28 05 2007

Empress Maruja gives the trophy to the blogger who found the Bunny Man this weekend.

Our hot Bunny Man was hiding in a past entry called “Don’t,” which is a double-anecdote about sex.

It comes as a surprise to the Maruja that our this week’s winner is a first-time visitor, Jpf.A.  The One-Man Love Story is written by a teenage guy all the way from Davao.  His blog is fairly new, roughly 10 months, but he updates his site almost everyday so expect something new everytime you browse.

The blog is a personal account on his goings-on and he features his friends (cute-looking friends, mind you) once in a while.  His interests are so varied, including Friendster, splurging, and selling beauty products.

Maruja also congratulates our dear legal urbanite Misterhubs for placing second…

As well as our beloved clitless chic from Sweden Kiss Fendi who placed third.

Our next Bunny Hunt will be posted on early Saturday (local time).

Bunny Man Hunt #4

27 05 2007

Sorry if it took me quite a while to post this.

The Bunny Man has hopped his way in another random blog entry. Help me find him and you will be rewarded with special link on my blog’s sidebar.

All you need to do is to look through the previous entries of my blog using the three clues that are provided. Once you find the Bunny Man, leave a comment on that post. The first one to post a comment indicating his or her discovery of the Bunny Man wins.

Remember that you can use the search and archive functions of this blog. Previous winners of Bunny Man Hunt are ineligible to win, but they can join just the same.

Here are the clues:

* The entry title where the Bunny Man is hiding has only one word.

* A certain form of intimacy is extensively discussed.

* It also has an open letter.

There you have it. Start searching, amigas!

Empress Maruja, ang Usisera ng TriNoma Mall, The Hottest Mall in Town…Literally!

25 05 2007

May date ang Maruja noong weekend.

Yezzz, it’s been a long time noong huli akong nagkaroon ng blind date na walang motmotang involved.

Hmmm…

Music Break: “Stormy Night” by Pedicab

23 05 2007

Pedicab is Raimund Marasigan’s “other” band (aside from Sandwich), but this group is anything other than “others.”

The band classifies their music as “dance-punk,” and their use of vintage analog synthesizers creates an 80’s synth-pop feel into their tracks.

Having a music video director (RA Rivera) as part of the band, Pedicab’s live performances are always a sight to behold. One of their on-stage antics includes wearing MMDA Traffic Enforcer uniforms.

The song “Stormy Night” is from their debut album “Tugish Takish” released back in 2005, and it sounds as refreshing as it is first played on the radio.

Video after the jump.

Commercial Break: Firefly Lighting Gives You the Eagle-Eye

23 05 2007

This has got to be one of the country’s wittiest advertisements yet.

A commercial for Firefly Lighting features its benefit in a exaggerated yet funny manner as the Doña summons her maid for something she finds on the carpet.

Video clip after the jump…

Promise!
