A 32-year-old club singer from the Philippines got through the auditions of this season’s Britain’s Got Talent, wherein the winner will receive £100,000 (P7,354,000) and a chance to perform for the Royal Family. Madonna Decena left her home country in search of work, leaving her two daughters to their grandmother. She went to United Kingdom and has been working as a club singer.
Decena was able to catch the attention of the judges, including Simon Cowell, as well as the show’s unforgiving crowd who would boo at any awful talent. Thankfully she didn’t have to go through that harsh treatment.
Singing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” Decena dedicated the song to her daughters who haven’t seen their mother for over a year. Will she be able to make through the finals? Let’s hope she will.
