According to a moderator over at the Indonesian Idol forums, the prospect of an Asian Idol competition is now slim to none.
Apparently, the participating countries (namely India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam) did not agree with the proposed voting system by host country Indonesia. The tallying of votes would not be in a Eurovision-styled ranking-based system that we saw in World Idol, but rather only Indonesian residents are allowed to cast their votes for Asian Idol.
That would have been downright silly, devah? I mean, it’s like giving Indonesia a free hand in making their Indonesian Idol (who would have been represented by their latest winner Rini Wulandari) the eventual winner. Are the organizers afraid that their bet would eventually lose to our very own Mau Marcelo had the voting been participated by all 7 countries? Are they afraid that the eventual winner would not “look like” an Asian stereotype (Mau being half African-Puerto Rican)?
I still hope that Asian Idol would still be held, even if it would be just some “get together” concert with no competition involved.
UPDATE: Apparently, Asian Idol WILL GO ON AS SCHEDULED. There are, however, some changes. The participating countries can now send their choice representative. The voting system, however, is yet to be confirmed.
So far, only two countries have a confirmed representative. Philippine Idol will send Mau Marcelo (since she’s the only winner), while Malaysian Idol will field in its first season winner Jaclyn Victor (you know, the girl that Vina Morales beat in Ikon Asean?).

What on earth happened to this tiny town? Were the people the latest victims of tornadoes that have been wreaking havoc lately?

Empress Maruja was so glad of the positive response about this week’s Bunny Man Hunt. So many aspirants appeared during the weekend that we have to wind it down to just seven, and it was not an easy task.
Watch our hot casting video featuring our last week’s winner, Misterhubs, as one of the judges.
By the way, the elusive Bunny Man was found in an old entry entitled “Isang Nagbabaga at Nag-uuminit na Paglilinaw“, where I had to defend myself against some commenters from Oboid’s Journal who thought that the picture the author posted was mine.
And after hours of deliberation, the organizers have decided on our finalists and winners. We shall start with the girls who almost made it to Top 3:

And Baklang AJ of Bakla Ako, May Reklamo

Now we present the Top 3 Readers who have found the Bunny Man.
The second runner-up goes to…

“Runner-up na naman ako! GRRRR!”
Our first runner-up for this week is…

“Leche di nakaabot…”
And this week’s winner is…

“Gimme the crown!!!”

Congratulations to Blue Harajuku, the original maldito, for winning the Bunny Man Hunt after several attempts. This just to prove that perseverance is the key to success!
Next week’s Bunny Man Hunt will resume to its original schedule, Saturdays between midnight and 2 a.m. Thank you and good evening!
You Can’t Make Maruja Go to the Gym

While I type this week’s Maruja Sunday Specials, take your time hunting for hot and elusive Bunny Man. The winner gets a speyshal link at the sidebar, just like our last week’s winner, Misterhubs.
The rules are simple:
1) Find the Bunny Man hiding in an old blog entry using the clues provided.
2) You can use the search and archive functions if necessary.
3) Once you have found the Bunny Man, comment on that particular post.
4) First person to spot the Bunny Man wins!
Everybody is encouraged to join. Winners, however, cannot play for three weeks.
And for the first time, the Bunny Man Hunt is also simulcast over at PinoyBlogosphere.Com.
Here are the clues that will lead you to the Bunny Man:
1) I was forced to defend myself as I wrote this entry.
2) It was not about Earth Day.
3) Summer cake, anyone?
There you have it! Start hunting, my amigas!

This is my version of One Day Blog Silence.

Empress Maruja would like take a moment of reflection and silence in memory of a television colleague and one of his dearest friends, Larra Estandarte. I truly hope that justice will be served against her killer.
The weekly Bunny Man Hunt will resume tomorrow, Sunday, between 9 am to 12 noon.

Today is my blog’s second birthday, and what better way to celebrate it with some great entertainment!

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the 56 candidates of Miss Wika 2007 Blog Writing Pageant, representing different parts of the Philippines and the Filipino international communities, in this year’s “Vote for Me” Special!
(applause)
Let’s welcome the ladies onstage with a special performance by Mr. Sexyback himself, Justin Timberlake!
(applause)
On centerstage, here is Contestant No. 22, Miss Empress Maruja!

I am just a simple girl with a simple ambition. Hi! My name is Empress Maruja, representing Novaliches!
Writing has been my passion since high school, but it was only back in college when I honed and practiced creative writing into its fullest potential from essays, one-act plays, screenplays, and even children’s stories.
My inspiration comes from everything and anything about my life as well as my surroundings. I used to write with a muse in mind, but then again I realized that the only person that I should seek inspiration from is myself.
My entry to Wika 2007 is entitled “Ang Pagladlad ng Kapa,” where I compared the pride of one’s native language to an unfurling of one’s cape during a beauty pageant as well as the unfurling of one’s true identity, that of my own. As I’ve said in my entry, I believe that language is something that you could hold on to because a simple smile, wink, or touching of each other’s bodies is not enough.
A vote for me is a vote of support for the Filipino gay community. Once again this is Empress Maruja, please vote for me!
**********
To vote for Empress Maruja’s wonderful and fabulous entry to Wika 2007, “Ang Pagladlad ng Kapa,” simply register at Pintig.Pinoyblogosphere.Net and click on the “STAR” corresponding to her entry. Fifty percent of the total score will come from public votes, and she needs it…BADLY.
Deadline of votes will be on August 25 at 11:59:59 pm, so don’t delay!
