Special Hunt: Where in My Blog is Wendy?

I’m not talking about the Wendy that is so loathed in the local blogosphere. (I don’t watch Pinoy Big Brother anyway.)

I was browsing through some photographs of Miss Universe 2007 and a candidate caught my fancy, not because she is stunningly beautiful but rather for her uncanny “talent.”

I am talking about Miss Honduras Wendy Salgado. She has this “thing” of trying to get noticed.

When the candidates visited a hospital filled with sickly children while all the other girls showed concern and empathy, Miss Honduras had other priorities in mind.

For Wendy, posing for the cameras came first.

And when the photographers took pictures of several lovely ladies in the pageant, Miss Honduras would not be far behind.

This amazing talent still continued during the coronation night, as Riyo Mori was being congratulated by other girls…

Wendy Salgado decided to smile with the new Miss Universe.

With that, I bestow Miss Honduras with “La Gran Eksenadora Award.” And to celebrate this feat, the Maruja decided to put the Bunny Man to rest just for this week.

Yes, you have heard it right. Instead of looking for our hot Bunny Man, the Maruja’s dear readers would have to search for a solo picture of Miss Honduras peeking out of the text (aside from the one you see at the beginning of this post). You know the drill:

Four young Assumptionistas jammed together back in high school and they rocked just like the big boys with their fresh melodies and catchy tunes. Eventually, they landed a regular gig in a bar and two years later they found themselves weaving through the bar circuit. If you think the story of Wake Up Your Seatmate is a piece of Disney fiction, think again.

Their latest song “Charm Me,” off their self-titled debut album, peaked at #1 spot on NU 107’s coveted Stairway to Seven countdown. The band even got mentioned in FHM as one of 30 best indie bands of today.

Philippine Idol Updates: Asian Idol Competition “Confeermed”

It’s confeermed, my amigas! Not just confirmed, but confeermed! The speculation of a regional Idol competition is finally coming true.

Sources from Indonesia confeerm that there will be a competition among Asian winners of the Idol franchise that will held around November 2007. Indonesia’s largest TV network, RCTI (which also hosts Indonesian Idol), will be the official broadcaster and the program will also be shown in TV stations among competing countries.

Seven Idol winners from India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam will participate in this regional tilt. Each country will send a representative from their choice season. In the case of Philippines and Vietnam, they would have to send the winner from their first season.

The Maruja is so thrilled to learn that my peborit body builder ever, Jiri Borkovec, won his first US competition over at MuscleMania Universe held in Miami.  Not only he won the Junior Tall Division, he also bagged the Junior Overall title!

Philippine Idol Updates: Reymond Sajor Performs at WCOPA Fundrasier

Philippine Idol finalist Reymond Sajor performs several Broadway songs during the fundraising concert for the country’s representatives of 11th Annunal World Championships of Performing Arts.

With what I’ve gathered, several companies have already pledged their intent to sponsor Reymond’s bid in the competition just after this concert.  Good job, Reymond!

Bunny Man Hunt #8 Winner

Empress Maruja congratulates the winner of the latest Bunny Man Hunt.

The Bunny Man was found hiding beneath the Bunny Man Hunt #8 post, and it was first spotted by a guy who identifies himself as “The Magbabalut.”

Pinoy Balut is literally a new blog, as it began posting entries since last week. Sadly, being a new blog, there isn’t really much to read about. (We’ll just have to wait for a few weeks, perhaps?)

The Maruja also congratulates the multi-faceted Aries the Warrior Princess as this week’s first runner-up and the ever-fabulous Mandaya Moore-Orlis for bagging second runner-up crown. Remember guys to leave your blog link when hunting for the Bunny Man.
